Kerala Lottery Bumper 2026: Draw Dates, Prize Structure & Claim Guide

Kerala Lottery bumper draws are the biggest events in the state's lottery calendar. They run alongside the seven weekly lotteries, carry much larger first prizes, and attract players who normally skip the daily 3 PM draws. This guide explains how bumper lotteries work, what the prize structure looks like, and what to do if you win.

What is a Kerala Lottery bumper draw?

A bumper lottery is a special seasonal draw announced by the Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries. Unlike the weekly schemes — Bhagyathara, Sthree Sakthi, Dhanalekshmi, Karunya Plus, Suvarna Keralam, Karunya and Samrudhi — a bumper is tied to a festival or season rather than a day of the week.

Bumper tickets usually cost more than weekly tickets and come with a larger prize pool. The number of series and the total number of tickets are also higher, which is why the first prize can reach several crores while a weekly first prize stays in the lakhs.

The six bumper lotteries in a year

Kerala typically runs six bumper draws across the year. The exact draw date and prize amount are announced separately for each edition, so always confirm on the official gazette before buying or claiming.

BumperUsual periodNotes
Summer BumperMarch – AprilOne of the first bumpers in the calendar year
Vishu BumperAprilReleased around the Vishu festival
Monsoon BumperJulyMid-year bumper, often with a large consolation pool
Onam BumperSeptemberUsually the biggest prize of the year
Pooja BumperOctober – NovemberReleased around the Pooja season
X'mas New Year BumperDecemberCloses the year, results near Christmas

How the bumper prize structure works

Bumpers keep the same tier logic as weekly lotteries but with bigger amounts at the top. A typical structure includes a first prize, one or more second and third prizes, a consolation prize for tickets matching the first-prize number with a different series prefix, and lower tiers from the 4th to the 8th or 9th prize.

The exact number of winners and the amount per tier change with every bumper edition. That is why the official notification — not a forwarded WhatsApp message — is the only reliable source for the prize table.

TierWhat it matchesTypical format
1st PrizeFull ticket number with seriesTwo letters + six digits
2nd / 3rd PrizeFull ticket number with seriesTwo letters + six digits
ConsolationSame number as 1st prize, different seriesOne ticket per other series

Bumper result time: still 3 PM

Bumper draws follow the same daily rhythm as weekly draws: the live announcement starts at 3:00 PM IST and the signed result is published later. Because the prize list is much longer, the full bumper result can take a little more time to appear.

Our live result page and archive show each tier as soon as the numbers are published, and the lower tiers are updated automatically when the official list is completed. You can also open the archive for the draw date to see the full breakdown.

How to claim a bumper prize

The claim process is the same as a weekly prize, but the amounts mean you will almost always deal with the Directorate rather than a local retailer.

  • Check your number against the official gazette, not a social media screenshot.
  • Sign the back of the ticket and keep it flat and undamaged.
  • Submit within 30 days of the draw date — late claims are normally rejected.
  • Carry a government photo ID, PAN card, bank account details and the original ticket.
  • For prizes above ₹1 lakh, expect verification at the Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries in Thiruvananthapuram.

Tax on bumper winnings

Bumper prizes are taxed under Section 194B like any other lottery winning: a flat 30% TDS applies above the ₹10,000 threshold, with surcharge and 4% health and education cess added for very large amounts. The headline prize is therefore not the amount credited to your account.

Agent commission can also be deducted when a ticket was bought through an authorised agent. Ask for a written breakdown showing prize amount, commission, TDS and cess before you sign anything.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming a bumper result is published at the same minute as a weekly draw — the longer list takes more time.
  • Sharing photos of a winning ticket before claiming it.
  • Paying an unofficial 'processing fee' to release a prize; the Directorate never asks for one.
  • Missing the 30-day claim window because the ticket was left with an agent.
